I have read various negative testimonies about this device on the difficulty in configuring and overall quality. I purchased mine yesterday and I had absolutely no problem setting it up. I even now have it working on an old PS2 system with no problem! If you are patient and do everything step by step, you’ll find once you plug in to your game console, its ready to play!

I purchased this adapter to connect a launch 20GB PS3 console. I do believe some of the reviewers have underestimated the possible difficulty in setting up this device. While it is not technically difficult, the instructions, both paper and on the disc are less than helpful to novice users. There are some major caviots with the instruction manual and disc that are included with the adapter.
-The manual reads like an IKEA manual. It’s overly simple and does not consider the various operating systems people may be using. I found much better instructions online via google. (Read the comments sections in this page and it’ll give you an idea of what to expect: [...])
-The disc included is a mini-cd (88mm), which is not helpful to those that own laptops. Additionally, the program on the disc is windows only, very disappointing considering amazon lists mac as being supported. Disc aside, mac users can change the IP settings on the device via systems preferences>network, but of course don’t have the support of the windows walk through disc/support.
-Nowhere in the manual is it mentioned you need to log in to the device via 10.10.10.254. I suspect this info is on the disc, but here again mac users or those unable to play a mini-cd are out of luck.
-I hope other reviewers will correct me if I am wrong but from what I could tell, this adapter does not support WEP wireless connections.
That said, the product preforms well. I’m able to get a good connection to my PS3 one floor below by wireless router. Just beware that some effort is involved in setting up the adapter and that there are serious limitations to the instructions and install disc. Here’s hoping Mad Catz listens to the complaints regarding the awful instructions and support and does a much better job detailing the set-up process for future purchasers.

This wireless N adapter works flawlessly. The nay sayers consider it an inconvenience to have to connect it to your PC first but it’s easy as 1-2-3. It takes less than 3 minutes to configure and you are up and running. I was lucky enough to pick this up from an Amazon seller for $20.00 and is well worth the $49.00 that most Amazon sellers are selling it for. It’s cheaper than the Microsoft adapter and well worth it. The other reviewers must have had other home network issues because it is a breeze to get up and running. I was enable to configure it in Windows 7 64 Bit with zero problems. There are many negative revies on this product here at Amazon but let me tell you this thing has worked flawlessly quite a few days now. The key is not to use auto channel selection within your wireless router settings. This thing is so easy to configure Stevie Wonder could do it. You don’t have to be a computer tech to set it up. If you just use the disc that comes with it and follow the on screen instructions you should have no problem. If you find yourself in the network adapter properties of your computer in Windows 7 just keep clicking every item in the box until the property tab allows you to select it. Then set the ip to the one suggested on setup. When you’r done just change it back to obtain ip address automatically. If you set it up properly you wont be dissapointed.

Product works great. For me, the intructions for connecting it to the router could have been written clearer, but once it was connected there hasn’t been any problems. My router is in my bedroom and the xbox is in the other side of the my house in the living room and it always connects to Xbox live.
I set this beast up on a Mac mini (which cannot take the 3 inch setup CD that it came with) by using on-line resources. It should of been easier to setup, or even possible on an actual XBOX, but it’s not.
Once it was config’d correctly, it works great! The speed and rang on wireless is impressive.
