The PS3′s have been pretty much problem free, hardware wise. Just look at the lack of questions even here about people having problems with their PS3′s, compared to how many people ARE having problems with their 360′s.
It was reported not long ago that the 360′s have almost a 50% hardware failure rate, which means almost 1 out of every 2 will have to be sent in to Mircrosoft and be refurbished after purchase. I’ve heard multiple stories of people having to send in or return 3 or 4 360′s in a row. Even wikipedia has an ENTIRE page ONLY devoted to the 360 hardware problems and failures.
So in short, the PS3 is a much more stable running hardware platform then the 360. It has way less problems.

Hope that helps.

There are probably a few PS3 hardware failures, but they’re not getting reported as often as the 360.
